Over the next couple of days, members of the North Coastal Prevention Coalition and Mothers Against Drunk Driving will place stickers on drinks at stores reminding customers of the county's social host ordinance, which prohibits adults from giving alcoholic drinks to people under 21.

The stickers say "Hey You!! It is ILLEGAL to provide alcohol for people under 21!!" in English and Spanish.

Employees of participating stores will also hand out brochures on the law to customers. Offenders can be jailed for up to six months.

In surveys, teens say that house parties are their most common source of booze, according to the prevention coalition.
