About 750 active-duty service members, veterans and spouses were expected to attend the "Hiring Heroes Career Fair" hosted by the Defense Department at the base's South Mesa Club, through 2 p.m.

The Hiring Heroes Program provides assistance to wounded, ill and injured service members, along with transitioning service members, veterans and spouses.

Attendees had the opportunity to network, speak with and collect information from nearly 80 federal agency and private sector recruiters and employers, which included the CIA and IRS, Lowe's, AutoZone and the Orange County Sheriff's Department, base officials said.
