Camel escapes private property, chases people in north LA County

PALMDALE - A camel got loose from its pen in a rural area south of Palmdale today and caused some concern for motorists and passersby, but it was corralled by authorities and no one was hurt, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said.

Deputies and firefighters were sent about 8:40 a.m. to an area near Soledad Pass Road,  according to sheriff's Deputy John Cereoli.

Animal control personnel were notified, and the animal was corralled, Cereoli said. The camel was being kept legally on a nearby property, Cereoli said.
