SAN DIEGO - Motorists are being asked to avoid state Route 79 from I-8 to Julian because of heavy snow falling in the mountains, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Plows have been called out to deal with the snow.
There are currently no plans to close Interstate 8 in the area.
