Caleb Acosta remembered in La Jolla paddle out with therapy dog Ricochet

Teen's final wish was to surf with Ricochet

LA JOLLA, Calif. - A paddle out was held in La Jolla Sunday morning for a teen who lost his battle with brain cancer.

Dozens took part in the paddle out to remember 15-year-old Caleb Acosta.

Just six weeks before he passed away, Acosta surfed with Ricochet the therapy dog in February.

10News captured the moment, which still brings tears to the eyes of Acosta's mom, Cathy Franco.

With friends by their side, Acosta's family revisited that special day and remembered the son who continues to inspire others with his story.

Franco said, "This message of love and hope, and his smile will continue to be seen, heard and felt."

Ricochet's owner said she still has a lot to do, as she continues her work with children and adults, giving the same hope she gave Acosta and his family.

Franco added, "Never did I believe that this precious dog would mean so much to us and would create such a big bond and such a big family."
