SAN DIEGO - The Centennial Celebration at Cabrillo National Monument has been rescheduled for the weekend of Dec. 7 and 8, and the commemorative 100th anniversary ceremony is set to take place Dec. 8 at 3 p.m.
The park's original centennial celebration in October was canceled due to the partial government shutdown. The rescheduled centennial activities will coincide with the park's third annual World War II - Fort Rosecrans Goes to War event, which highlights the park's military history.
Superintendent Tom Workman said, "I'm very pleased to announce the rescheduling of this special historic community event. Combining the centennial events with our annual military history tribute will make this a very special and memorable weekend for staff, volunteers and visitors. We invite the public to come and celebrate San Diego's only National Park."
