SAN DIEGO - Police are searching Tuesday for two suspects in a grocery store break-in in Point Loma.
The burglary took place at a Fresh & Easy store in 955 Catalina Blvd at 2:30 a.m.
10News learned that the suspects, who wore masks, smashed a side-door window and set off an audible alarm.
Witnesses called 911 and police responded to the area, along with a K-9.
The suspects fled the scene and police were unable to find them.
Initial reports indicate that the suspects sawed off and destroyed a self-service checkout machine. Broken glass littered the store's floor and some displays were knocked down.
A source told 10News, the thieves may have smashed the glass on the door by throwing a rock.
San Diego police said the alarm company, which was monitoring surveillance cameras, reported people running around the store in costumes.
Police told 10News they took surveillance video for review.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
