CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) – Firefighters are looking into what started a brush fire in East Chula Vista. It started just in a hillside near Magdalena Avenue and Rock Mountain Road, near Olympian High School.

The fire started around 7 p.m. and burned for about an hour before firefighters got it under control. It burned nearly three acres.

Firefighters say conditions cooperated and the fire never threatened the school or any other buildings.

Firefighter responded to two smaller brush fires earlier in the day. Investigators say those were suspicious and might have been sparked by kids. There is no evidence to support that those were connected to the one along Magdalena Avenue.
