SAN DIEGO - Crews are working to put out a brush fire that erupted near El Monte Park in Lakeside.
The fire was reported just before 1:30 p.m. at the end of El Monte Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities asked that everything east of El Monte Park be shut down due to the response.
As of 9 p.m., authorities said the fire was holding at 110 acres and it is about 50 percent contained.
Authorities said water drops have helped in the firefighting efforts as ground crews have been hampered by the steep and rocky terrain.
No structures are being threatened by the flames and no injuries have been reported.
U.S. Forest Service, Cal Fire, Lakeside Fire and Heartland Fire have all responded to the blaze.
