The fire was reported at about 4 p.m. on the west side of Interstate 15 about two miles south of Gopher Canyon Road, said Battalion Chief Nick Schuler of Cal Fire.

Schuler said firefighters contained the blaze to about two acres. He said no structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.

The California Highway Patrol reported the two right-hand lanes on the southbound side of the freeway were closed, but one had since been reopened.

Schuler said the remaining southbound lane would likely remain closed until about 6 p.m.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation, Schuler said.
