SPRING VALLEY, Calif. - The eastbound lanes of state Route 94 in the Spring Valley area have been reopened after two spot fires occurred alongside the freeway.
The fires burned about 3 acres total and were located about 100 yards apart. They were reported just after 11 a.m. Sunday near the eastbound lanes of SR-94 near Kenwood Drive.
The westbound lanes were briefly shut down at Kenwood Drive and were reopened after smoke started to clear.
According to the California Highway Patrol's CAD page, as of 11:40, the fire chief requested a bomb arson squad to investigate and to rule out if the fires were intentionally set.
Due to the investigation, the eastbound lanes near Kenwood were shut down but were reopened as of 12:30 p.m.The Kenwood onramp to eastbound SR-94 remains closed.
