A brush fire broke out near Barrett Lake at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, but a quick attack by firefighters limited it to one acre, a Cal Fire spokesman said.
"The fire was going at a slow rate and we got a line around it and stopped it from spreading," Cal Fire Capt. Kendal Bortisser said.
The fire had been reported stopped by 11:45 a.m. It was on a ranch at 1375 Barrett Lake Rd., about five miles northwest of the Tecate Junction on state Route 94.
Bortisser said numerous wildfire resources were sent to the blaze, including hand crews and air tankers.
