SAN DIEGO - Multiple lanes of southbound Interstate 15 near Deer Springs Road were shut down Monday while crews extinguished a fire in the center divide.
The fire was initially reported as several spot fires along the right shoulder at 4:10 p.m. and somehow spread to the center divide.
A Sig Alert was issued at 4:40 p.m. At one point, all southbound lanes were closed for about 10 minutes.
As of 6:30 p.m., only two of the southbound lanes remained shut down. The Gopher Canyon Road onramp to I-15 was also shut down.
Cal Fire says the fire is holding at about 6 acres. Crews will remain on scene for the next six to seven hours to mop hot spots.
No structures were threatened and no injuries have been reported.
More details will be posted as they become available.
