Authorities evacuating residents

SAN MARCOS, Calif. - A bread truck crashed into an assisted living facility in San Marcos, prompting authorities to evacuate several residents from the building Friday.

The crash took place in the 3700 block of Linda Vista Drive.

The Oroweat truck smashed into parts of at least two bedrooms in the facility. 10News learned there are four to five residents living there, some of them use wheelchairs and needed help getting out of the building. Owners of the facility said a nursing staff member was also inside at the time of the crash.

Authorities told 10News the driver was going down Linda Vista Drive when a large box next to him tipped over, hit his arm and caused him to lose control of the truck.
