VISTA, Calif. - A 12-year-old boy sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries when his bike collided with a truck in a Vista intersection, sheriff's officials said Saturday.

The boy was riding his bike through the intersection of Durian and Tylee streets shortly after 7 p.m. Friday when he crashed into the front of a Ford Ranger driven by a 49-year-old woman, according to sheriff's Deputy Michael Power.

Paramedics treated the boy at the scene then he was airlifted to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, Power said. He was expected to recover.
