SAN DIEGO - A Border Patrol agent was injured after his vehicle was involved in a rollover crash in the Otay Mountain area Wednesday evening.
The single-vehicle crash was reported at 6:51 p.m. The nearest intersection to the crash is Otay Mesa and Alta roads, but Cal Fire says the rollover occurred about 20 minutes away from that intersection.
According to Cal Fire, the vehicle rolled over into a ravine and the driver, a Border Patrol agent, was able to get free from the wreckage.
He was airlifted and transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital. The Border Patrol says the agent suffered moderate injuries.
The agency released the following statement to 10News:
"An agent assigned to the Chula Vista Border Patrol Station was injured in a single vehicle rollover on Otay Mountain shortly before 7pm. At this time his injuries do not appear to be life threatening. He was airlifted to an area hospital as a precautionary measure."
