A man found dead in the trunk of an abandoned car on a Clairemont Mesa roadside was identified Thursday as a 28-year-old Tijuana resident.
Patrol officers responding to reports of a foul odor emanating from the parked sedan in the 6700 block of Bamburgh Drive Wednesday morning found the body of Ivan Lozano, according to the San Diego Police Department.
An autopsy Thursday confirmed that Lozano, a U.S. citizen who lived in Baja California, was a homicide victim, said SDPD Lt. Jeff Sferra, who declined to disclose how the man died.
The Chrysler Concorde his body was in had been parked in the neighborhood just west of Interstate 805 and north of Balboa Avenue since March 23, residents told investigators.
The following day, the vehicle's owner reported the automobile stolen from Chula Vista, Sferra said.
