SAN DIEGO - There were bigger than normal waves at San Diego area beaches for the second consecutive day Tuesday, meteorologists said.
The National Weather Service attributed the high surf to a large long- period west-northwest swell. A high surf advisory issued by the agency midday Tuesday was scheduled to expire at 2 p.m. today.
Through early this afternoon, 5- to 8-foot waves with local sets to 10 feet are expected.
surf can cause strong rip currents and minor beach erosion.
