Band Director Accused Of Sex With Her Student

A high school band director in Orange County has been charged with having sex with one of her students.

Carlie Attebury, a 29-year-old who works at El Modena High School, was charged Friday with eight felony counts.

Deputy District Attorney Susan Kang Schroeder said a student admitted having sex with the teacher in February and April. He was 15 or 16 years old at the time.

The Orange Unified School District said Attebury is on unpaid leave.

She was charged with unlawful sexual intercourse and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime.

Schroeder said she has not been taken into custody but is expected to surrender.
