Baby seal rescued in La Jolla Cove
SeaWorld to assess seal's health

SAN DIEGO - A baby seal found struggling on the sand in La Jolla Cove is safe and recovering at SeaWorld.
A local woman and her 3-year-old daughter first noticed the seal pup Thursday afternoon. They said the seal still had its umbilical cord attached and looked to be in distress, which is why they contacted SeaWorld.
SeaWorld crews promptly arrived to rescue the newborn pup and are scheduled to give it a full checkup.
The young seal will be released back into the wild within one to three months.
