IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. - A tall young man who claimed to have a concealed gun robbed a South Bay bank on Tuesday, according to authorities.

The thief, who appeared to be about 20 years old, passed a demand note to a teller at the Chase Bank branch office in the 1100 block of Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach at about 11 a.m., according to the FBI.

After the employee handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber walked out of the bank and fled in an unknown direction. Though the thief claimed to be armed, no weapon was seen.

The robber was described as a Hispanic man who is 6 feet tall, weighs about 175 pounds and has close-cropped hair.

He was wearing a white T-shirt, a gray hooded jacket, white tennis shoes, a black baseball cap and plastic-framed sunglasses with dark-brown lenses.
