SAN MARCOS, Calif. - A man sneaked into a North County home and into a young girl's bedroom shortly before dawn Friday, fleeing when she screamed, a San Diego County sheriff's official reported.
The unidentified intruder, who had short hair and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, confronted the child at the residence in the 1200 block of Calle Colnett in San Marcos about 5:30 a.m., Lt. James Bolwerk said.
"I can't believe this; I'm going to lock my windows. This is scary, really scary," said Amelia Garcia, a neighbor who lives near the home that was broken into.
"I've lived here since 1971 and nothing like this has ever happened here before," said neighbor Bill Wilson.
Deputies responding to an emergency call about the home invasion searched the area but were unable to find the man, according to Bolwerk.
Deputies and Escondido police told 10News they believe the same person may be responsible for two similar incidents in the Oak Hill area of Escondido over the last three weeks.
