CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Three Chula Vista elementary schools went into precautionary lockdown for about an hour Tuesday as authorities searched for a semi-nude probationer who fled from federal agents trying to take him into custody on outstanding warrants.

The suspect, who was identified as Daniel Aceves, bolted when members of a regional fugitive task force approached him in a neighborhood near Otay Park about 10 a.m., according to police. He was wearing a black T-shirt and was naked from the waist down.

Administrators at Loma Verde Elementary School, Otay Elementary School and St. Pius X schools secured all pupils inside their classrooms as authorities searched the area for the man, who was wanted on suspicion of probation violations, Lt. Buddy Magor said.

Montgomery Elementary School was also briefly locked down.

The suspect, who apparently was unarmed, managed to elude arrest. All three campuses lifted their lockdowns about 11:30 a.m., the lieutenant said.

Deputy federal marshals continued searching the area for the fugitive into the afternoon, according to Magor.
