Authorities investigate suspicious device at fire station in Normal Heights

Object determined to be intert

SAN DIEGO - A section of plastic pipe found near a fire station in Normal Heights prompted a bomb squad response Thursday.

The roughly two-foot piece of PVC conduit found in the 4600 block of Felton Street near Adams Avenue about 10:50 a.m. was determined to be inert, a fire department dispatcher said.

San Diego police say the object was found in front of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department's Fire Station 18.

Felton was temporarily closed at Adams to accommodate firefighters.
