LAKESIDE - Deputies are investigating a gun battle Friday involving a security guard and several men in Santee, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.
The incident occurred at 3:45 a.m. near state Route 67 at Woodside Avenue.
The security guard told deputies he was in his vehicle when he saw red and blue lights in his rearview mirror.
Thinking it was a law enforcement, the security guard pulled over, according to deputies.
But instead, three men in a red Suburban started shooting at him.
Deputies said that multiple rounds were fired and that the security guard fired back.
The guard, who works for the Bravo Three Security company, was not shot, but appeared to have hurt him himself while getting out of his vehicle. It is unclear if anyone in the Suburban was hit.
The Woodside Avenue onramp to north SR-67 was shut down as of 5:32 a.m. due to the investigation.
10News Traffic Reporter Melissa Mecija suggested the Woodside onramp near Riverford or Bradley Avenue in El Cajon as alternate routes.
