Authorities identify man killed in I-5 crash near Del Mar Heights Road

DEL MAR, Calif. - A motorist who plunged off north Interstate 5 and was found dead 29 hours after the crash has been identified.
The medical examiner said the driver is 35-year-old Joe Christopher Navarez of Oceanside.
California Highway Patrol officers found his body and a crumpled Honda Civic in an embankment off of north Interstate 5 near Via De La Valle.
Fire personnel responded, but Navarez was confirmed dead at the scene.
CHP officers said they believe the accident occurred Oct. 28.
Officers said the car fell some 200 feet down an embankment and rolled over several times.
