Attempted kidnapping reported near San Diego State University

SAN DIEGO - A woman was accosted at gunpoint near San Diego State University campus early Saturday, and police called it an attempted kidnapping.

A man in a vehicle approached a woman in the 5800 block of Lindo Paseo at 12:18 a.m., police said.

"The suspect displayed a black handgun and told the victim to get into the car," police said.

The woman refused and fled.

Police said the suspect was last seen heading toward College Avenue. The victim was not injured.

The suspect was described as a clean-shaven, white man who was 30 to 40 years old. He was about 6 feet 1 inch tall and had short blonde hair and rectangular-shaped glasses. The man was wearing a blue T-shirt, blue jeans, a tan jacket and possibly white shoes.

Police said the suspect may have been driving a black Ford F-150.
