Attempted burglary suspects caught on tape trying to break into Mt. Helix home

Police seeking public's help in finding suspects

LA MESA, Calif. - Police are asking for the public's help in identifying two attempted burglary suspects who were caught on surveillance camera trying to break into a Mt. Helix home.

Homeowner Catherine Jacobson said that her security cameras, which are hooked to her roof and always rolling, caught two men driving up to her home in a white Mercedes Benz.

Jacobson showed 10News her front door, which looked like it was hacked into by a set of tools.

"Here's my poor door," Jacobson said. "It was so traumatic because you know, we just had this remodeled and everything was looking so nice and suddenly there's this destroyed door."

In the surveillance camera footage, two different men walked up to the door. The first wore a blue shirt. The second man wore a white hat and a pair of gloves.

Later, the family's  pool man arrived and interrupted the thieves. Both suspects remained calm and walked away.

Jacobson said the men destroyed the door, pulling off the molding.

"Really... it's scary for me," she said. "I can't got to the store until my husband comes home. My life is just... I'm a prisoner here."

The homeowners told 10News they put up the security cameras after being burglarized twice.
