A Riverside County artist with a dream of taking a road trip from San Diego to Seattle to paint the natural beauty of the West Coast, just got the fundraising boost he needed thanks to a website called Kickstarter.
Timothy O'Shea, of Lake Elsinore, Calif., has raised about $4,000 for his trip on Kickstarter, which helps bring creators and backers together to make projects happen
People selected to be on the site can upload a video explaining why they hope to raise money.
The 20-year-old artist said he wanted to take a road trip in his 1978 Volkswagen bus this summer, with the goal of stopping every day to paint.
O'Shea asked people on Kickstarter to donate at least $1 if they wanted to support his endeavor. He said the money would be used for art supplies and postage to mail his backers original postcards and paintings he creates on the road.
O'Shea said his goal was to raise $2,500 for the trip, but more than 130 backers have supported his goal so far, with another day left to fundraise.
