Arson investigators looking into outbuilding fire in Sunset Cliffs

Flames engulfed bldg in parking lot

SAN DIEGO - Arson investigators are looking into a fire that engulfed an outbuilding in Sunset Cliffs, authorities said Thursday.

The fire broke out at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the empty building at the Ladera Park Cliffs parking lot.

Firefighters said the blaze was in a location that's difficult to get to. Once they got access to the building, the flames were knocked down within 10 minutes.

10News learned that firefighters have been in the area before since the building has been set on fire in the past.

Police said they were on another call at the entrance to Ladera Cliffs Park when the fire broke out. They saw the flames and rushed to the scene. Officers were able to detain five men.

Firefighters told 10News nothing was stored in the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
