Arrests made in death of Oak Park barbershop owner Lamar Canady

SAN DIEGO - Police Wednesday arrested two people in connection with the fatal shooting of an Oak Park barbershop owner.

On May 9, Lamar Canady was shot multiple times while he was inside Official Cutz Barber Shop on 5404 Redwood Street. Officers and emergency crews responded, but the 32-year-old father of four was declared dead at the scene. The suspected gunman was seen running from the barbershop following the shooting.

According to San Diego police, Ian Patrick Guthrie was taken into custody at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 9800 block of Via Monzon in Rancho Penasquitso. The 38-year-old was booked into San Diego County Jail and will be arraigned Friday.

Earlier in the day, authorities in Kansas City apprehended 47-year-old Peter Johnson. He was booked into Kansas City Headquarters Detention Unit and is awaiting extradition, accorindg to San Diego police.

Authorities have released no suspected motive for the slaying or disclosed the relationships, if any, among the suspects and Canady.

Police said the case is in the hands of the County District Attorney's Office, who is now the lead agency in the case.
