Man charged in stabbing of mother, brother in El Cajon

EL CAJON, Calif. - A 20-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing his mother and wounding his younger brother at their El Cajon apartment last week was charged Tuesday with murder and premeditated attempted murder.

Arraignment for Mohammed Raad Agab was rescheduled to Wednesday due to unspecified medical issues.

Officers responding to a report of a family dispute about 1 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of Ballantyne Street found the mortally wounded 39-year-old woman on a staircase. She died at the scene, Lt. Frank La Haye said.

Her 14-year-old son was found in a parking lot at the complex, also suffering from serious stab wounds. Paramedics took him to a trauma center, but his condition was not known.

Police disclosed no suspected motive for the stabbings.
