SAN DIEGO - A masked gunman and a knife-wielding accomplice robbed an adult bookstore in Kearny Mesa, police said Thursday.

The armed robbery at The Adult Emporium at 5101 Convoy St. was reported at 9:39 p.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

The thieves, both males, fled in a smaller silver four-door sedan, he said in a statement.

10News learned the two men entered the store through a back door. They robbed the clerk of all the money in the register and knocked a male customer to the ground and kicked him. 

Paramedics were called, but the customer's injuries were minor and he was treated at the scene.

The robbery is similar to one that was reported nearby last weekend.  In that incident, two men wearing hoodies and gloves robbed a customer and two employees at an adult store on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. The suspects in that robbery also had a gun and a knife.

Police would not say if the two robberies are related.
