Armed man breaks into Carlsbad apartment, demands cash

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Police are looking for a man who broke into a Carlsbad apartment early Monday morning and held up a resident at gunpoint. 
 
Carlsbad police report that just before 5 a.m., a resident was awakened by a suspect breaking into his apartment in the 2600 block of Jefferson Street. The suspect broke in by removing a window screen in the living room. 
 
The resident old officers that he confronted the suspect, who pulled a gun on him and demanded cash and cell phones. The resident gave the man $25 in cash and he fled through the front door.
 
The resident was not hurt. 
 
The suspect was described as white, in his 20s, about 6-feet-tall and 175 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a yellow hood.
