PHOENIX - An Arizona man is getting to know his 24-year-old daughter for the first time after an emotional Father's Day reunion.
Amy Roberson was adopted as a baby. She started serving at the Phoenix Rescue Mission a year ago. She did not know it at the time, but her birth father, who is a minister, also volunteered there too. Their paths crossed this year when he got a phone call from her.
"I heard a voice that said, 'Hello, may I speak to Andrew," said Will Russell. "That immediately took me back about 20-some odd years because I hadn't used that name in over 20 years."
"I said, 'I don't know how to say this ... but I'm your daughter," said Roberson.
Russell said 24 years ago he gave his daughter up for adoption because he was struggling with addiction. Today, he has turned his life around and is helping others who are struggling with the same challenges he faced.
