Apparent victim of shooting outside Spring Valley bar turns up at hospital

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. -

The apparent victim of a shooting outside a Spring Valley bar turned up at a hospital early Sunday, but the assailant got away, a sheriff's sergeant said.

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched on reports that shots were fired outside Fannie's Bar in the 9100 block of Campo Road, shortly after midnight, but found no one who had been directly involved in the shooting, sheriff's Sgt. James Blanton said.

Several bar patrons said the victim and suspects had left, Blanton said.

While deputies investigated in Spring Valley, a person with multiple gunshot wounds arrived at the Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, Blanton said. Details about the extent of the victim's injuries were not released.

Back at the bar, detectives questioned witnesses, Blanton said, but no details were released.
