American Airlines flight from San Diego diverted due to turbulence

DENVER — Five passengers aboard an American Airlines flight destined for Chicago were redirected to Denver Monday, due to "extreme turbulence" over the rockies.

A maintenance crew inspected the Boeing 737, the ship for American Airlines flight 1296.  

According to KMGH, five passengers were evaluated by medics. Two were taken to the hospital. All 156 people on board had to wait it out at the airport as the plane was inspected.  

 

The airline released the following information: 

"American Airlines flight 1296 from San Diego to Chicago O'Hare, encountered turbulence and diverted to Denver. The Boeing 737 aircraft landed without incident at 5:36 p.m. MT, and safely taxied to the gate."
