UPDATE: Amber Alert over for Los Angeles boy

UPDATE: Nisha Burnett, the mother of the boy abducted from his school Wednesday morning, is now in custody. Her 6-year-old son West Burnett is safe. 

Burnett led police on a short chase before pulling into the parking lot of a Harley Davidson store in Marina Del Rey. From there, she grabbed her son from the car and ran into the store. Several officers followed her in. 

They walked out moments later with Burnett in handcuffs.

(KGTV) - An Amber Alert has been issued for a boy police said has been taken by his non-custodial mother in a Los Angeles neighborhood.

West Burnett was taken by his mother, Nisha Burnett, sometime Wednesday morning from Coeur D'Alene Avenue Elementary School in Venice, according to Los Angeles Police. Burnett does not have custody rights to her son.

Authorities said Nisha may be driving a 2004 gold BMW with the license plate 6WAP644.

Police said the boy's family is concerned for his safety. West was last seen wearing a light blue sweater and brown pants.

West is described as white, standing 3-feet-5-inches tall, and weighing 25 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
