An investigation into alleged hazing at a North County surf camp has been sent to the county District Attorney's Office for review, it was reported Wednesday.

Prosecutors will now decide whether misdemeanor child cruelty charges should be filed against the Oceanside Surf Institute, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

The probe stems from complaints to police filed by two families whose children attended the camp this summer.

The allegations against surf counselors include throwing children into trash bins and forcing them to lick the inside of the can as punishment.
