ESCONDIDO, Calif. - A driver and a passenger were killed and another passenger was seriously injured when the driver lost control of the car and struck two parked vehicles in front of Escondido High School, police said.
The driver had been speeding south in the 1500 block of North Broadway about 2:40 a.m., lost control and hit the parked vehicles north of Escuela Glen, according to Escondido police Officer Thomas Venable.
Arriving police and fire personnel found the driver and front seat passenger dead, Venable said. Their names were not immediately released.
A back seat passenger was taken to a hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Officers believe alcohol played a role in the crash. Venable said numerous beer bottles were found in the vehicle.
Venable asked anyone with information on the crash to contact him at (760) 801-3018.
