SAN DIEGO - Actor Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band made a special appearance at Naval Medical Center San Diego on Saturday.

Sinise and his band – known for raising funds for veterans – hosted the appreciation day for wounded, ill and injured service members and their families.

A few months ago, Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band played a benefit concert in Temecula to raise funds for wounded warriors like local triple amputee Cpl. Juan Dominguez.

"I'm glad we could do it," Sinise said. "It's important to do as much as we can for those who are sacrificing and we have a lot of people here who are working very hard to get through the day."

Food Network celebrity chef Robert Irvine also hosted a barbecue lunch.
