CARLSBAD, Calif. - About 3,000 gallons of sewage spilled from a line Sunday near the San Marcos Creek, which flows into the Batiquitos Lagoon, officials said.

The sewage spilling from the force break in a 6-inch line at 2310 Rancho Santa Fe Road in Carlsbad was discovered about 3:15 a.m. and ran for about 75 minutes, Lisa Urabe of the Vallecitos Water District said.

Crews worked to recover some of the release and signs warning of the contamination were posted at access points, including the La Costa Golf Resort, Urabe said.
