SAN DIEGO -- A 52-year-old cancer patient with short-term memory loss who walked away from his Serra Mesa home in pajama pants was found Sunday at an electronics store, San Diego police said. Zabir Shokoor was found about 2:30 p.m. at Fry's Electronics store in the 9800 block of Stonecrest Boulevard, in Serra Mesa, SDPD Sgt. Rodney Vandiver said.
He had been there all night, curled up on a bench outside the store, according to police. The manager of the store noticed him on the bench but could not quite recognize him as the man in the flyers distributed by police. The officer who contacted him had to check for a large scar he has on his face to determine it was Shokoor, he said. He could not say why security guards did not rouse the man and check his identity. Shokoor walked away from his home in the 2900 block of Epaulette Street sometime after 10 p.m. Saturday, Vandiver said.
