Authorities asked for the public's help Thursday in the search for a missing 80-year-old woman with Alzheimer's disease.

Maria L. Plummer was last seen leaving her residence in Point Loma Wednesday around 1:30 p.m., on her way to a hospital appointment in La Jolla, according to San Diego police.

She was headed for Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla in her gray Toyota Corolla, California license plate 5CFH080, but she never got there, said San Diego police Sgt. Rich Nemetz.

Plummer is 5 feet 5 inches tall, about 160 pounds, with gray hair, blue eyes and glasses.

Anybody with information on Plummer's whereabouts is urged to call San Diego police communications at 619-531-2000.
