ESCONDIDO, Calif. -- Fire damaged the garage of a two-story, single family home in Escondido on Saturday but the two adult residents and their dogs got out safely, reported 10News. The fire in the 1800 block of Country Club Lane was reported at 7:10 a.m., Escondido fire Capt. Gary Correiar said.
The fire started in the garage but the cause of the fire was still under investigation, Correiar said. The blaze burned off the garage roof. There was some smoke and water damage to the attached home and several upstairs windows were blown out by the fire's heat, Correiar said. Firefighters had to hack through drywall and remove fixtures to get to the fire inside the walls, the captain said. The family was displaced and the Red Cross was called, Correiar said.
