SAN DIEGO -- A police motorcycle officer suffered apparently minor injuries Thursday when he was struck by a car in Serra Mesa, authorities reported.

The accident occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. at Sandrock Road and Glenhaven Street, just east of state Route 163 in central San Diego, SDPD Detective Gary Hassen said.

Medics took the officer to Sharp Memorial Hospital. His name and the nature of his injuries were not immediately released.
