Named "America's Finest City" due to its hospitality, beauty, and ideal climate, San Diego, California deserves to be clean. There are many things a San Diegan can do to keep this city clean. Such ideas are keeping our beaches, one of our most prized possessions, clean, promoting more recycling, and painting over graffiti.First, our beaches are part of what makes San Diego, San Diego. Beaches are a miracle and need to be beautiful. Littering on the beaches is not cool at all; our beaches need to be preserved for future generations. By doing the simple task of throwing away your sandwich bag after spending Friday night at the beach with your family, is telling other people that "Hey, this is important. We really need to throw our trash away!"Secondly, by recycling we preserve our resources. At CVMS, the staff, ASB, and Peer Mediation spend tons of time promoting recycling. There are numerous opportunities to recycle in our everyday life, including recycling the milk carton when it's finished, recycling the morning paper, and even donating our old cell phones or printer cartridges, in order to make new ones! And lastly, painting over graffiti. Obviously, graffiti is a problem in every city. One easy solution is if you ever see anyone breaking the law in this way, to ask him or her to stop. Or possibly you could organize a trip for volunteer hours to check out your neighborhood and paint over some of the graffiti, it really helps. Here are three easy ways to keep our wonderful city clean. If we preserve the city, generations later people will still refer to San Diego as the Finest City!
