SAN DIEGO -- Do you know why it is important to keep our city, the city of San Diego California clean? I know why, but the fact of the matter is do you know why? There are tons of reasons to keep our city clean. Our city has some of the best weather in California. It's not too hot, not too cold but just perfect for our coastal city. People flock to our beautiful city and beaches to enjoy our nice weather all year long, and to have a good time. People would not come here if we made our city like a landfill. We have to keep our city clean and waste free. We can start at our local city parks. Most of the time our parks are pretty tidy, but after national holidays and sometimes on the weekends they can get pretty trashed. We the San Diegans need to keep these local parks clean so that we all can have a clean and safe environment for people and ourselves who would like to visit and just enjoy them. Its not just local parks that need to be well kept and clean, our beaches need to be looked after, too. Some of our beaches are so bad people aren't allowed to swim in the water and most people wont even walk on those beaches I know I wouldn't! We need to especially keep our beaches clean, the trash on the beaches doesn't just affect the beauty of our city but it effects the environment. You have to be proud of the city of San Diego we are the seventh largest city in the country and growing. If we don't clean up after ourselves that will stop. Our population will drop and tourist will stop coming. Nobody wants to live in a city overflowed with garbage. We the citizens have many resources on disposing our trash. The city of San Diego has provided many ways of disposing our house waste and other types of our garbage. San Diego has been kind enough to provide the public with trash collection services for the past eighty years and they still to this day are collecting trash for us. If we just throw our wastes away in the proper places we would do a lot better. If it helps we could use more trash bins in our public parks and beaches. This would help out a lot. It would also help if we picked up after our pets while we walk them around our beaches and parks or even the city. No one likes to walk through animal droppings. I've seen at some parks special bags to pick up your pet's droppings. I think that was a good idea. I think wherever there is a trash can there should be one of those pet dropping bags. Another way we can help keep San Diego clean is the Adopt a Highway program; businesses donate money to the Adopt a Highway Maintenance Corporation (AHMC) to have their advertised highway cleaned every week. I know from experience that schools do a program called, Beach Cleanup once a month, but I think we should have different schools do it once every 2 weeks instead of waiting a month. In conclusion I hope you understand the beauty of our city and remember to pick up after yourselves so we can have a trash free San Diego. Your city should be very special to you; our city is home to some of the prettiest beaches on the California coastline, the world famous San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Cabrillo National Monument and many other special locations within our city. Our city doesn't deserve this abuse, we need to think before we litter on our own precious, San Diego.
