Pending Camera Tickets Thrown Out

Three Local Intersections Affected

A San Diego judge is throwing out all pending traffic tickets issued by red light camera's at three city intersections.

Video
According to 10News, tickets that were issued at the following intersections -- and were still pending as of June 6 -- are affected:

  • 16th and F Streets
  • Ingraham and Garnet
  • Mira Mesa Boulevard and Black Mountain Road.

Citizens who failed to appear in court on a red-light ticket on or before June 5 must still take care of the citation.

In addition, motorists who received a red light camera ticket from any of the other intersections will still have to pay.

Police determined that underground sensors -- which measure where the vehicle is when the light turned red -- were moved by the company that runs the program, prompting an independent inspection of each device.

Last month, Sen. Steve Peace, D-Chula Vista, called for San Diego to suspend the red-light photo enforcement program.

If you'd like more detailed information on the red light cameras, you can call the city information line at (619) 533-5604.
