Family Desperately Searches For Missing Vista Woman

Jane Kling Has Been Missing Since Monday Night

Authorities Tuesday are asking the public to help a family find a 68-year-old North County woman who was reported missing from her home last week.

Jane Kling was reported missing from Vista last Monday morning when her grandson went to her home and found that her dogs had not been attended to, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Sherri Holmes, Kling's daughter, said her mother would not have left the house without caring for the dogs, said Sgt. Roy Castaneda of the San Diego sheriff's Vista station.

"For her to break appointments and not come home for her dogs is completely out of the ordinary," said Kling's daughter Sherri Holmes.

Kling's daughters describe her disappearance as absolutely baffling.

"She doesn't have hobbies, she's not a gambler and she's not a traveler," said Kling's daughter Laurie Taylor.

Kling's 1997 dark green Dodge Caravan, with personalized California license plate RENES, was also missing, Castaneda said.

There was no indication that Kling, a widow, had any kind of physical or emotional impairments, he said.

The Vista Village Business Association is helping blanket the community with fliers, alerting customers to this real-life mystery.

"Why would she take off? ... I don't understand that," said Karen Clay, with the Vista Village Business Association.

Kling is white with short blond hair and brown eyes. She's about 5 feet 3 inches and weighs around 125 pounds.

Anybody with information on Kling's whereabouts is asked to call the San Diego Sheriff's Department at (858) 565-5200, or her family's phone line at (760) 917-6298.

Tippers can also contact the family -- which is offering a reward for information leading to Kling's location -- by e-mail, at HelpUsFindJane@yahoo.com.
